A Byron Bay resident who is suffering from cancer and currently in palliative care has refused to sell her home of 11 years to producers of The Block, who want to purchase her property for the 2022 season of the show.

Dorothy May, 74, says she has rejected an offer of $2million, $500,000 above the market value for the house.

'I live in the middle of five houses (they want to use) and I won't sell,' she said.

Dorothy's home is located in between a block of five houses producers want to knock down and overhaul on the TV show.

While nothing has been put in writing, Dorothy says that the 'sales have been verbally agreed to' after production was moved from the show's current base of Melbourne to the celebrity resort town.

Responding to an article in a Byron Bay Facebook group earlier this week, she argued: 'All of these houses have been substantially renovated in the last two years to a very high standard.'
