She became an overnight sensation after performing at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

And Nikki Webster has responded to calls for her to back up that performance 32 years later, after a petition was launched to see her appear at the Brisbane Games in 2032.

'I'd love to perform in Brisbane. Who wouldn't?' the mother of two, 34, told Woman's Day on Monday.

Nikki called TV presenter Deborah Knight's petition for her return 'very humbling'.

'The Olympics are always a very special time for me, so to be thought of in that way is just incredible,' she added.

However, Nikki admitted she would make some changes to her now iconic Sydney appearance all those years ago.

'I definitely won't be wearing the pink dress,' said Nikki, in a nod to the famous floral-print garment she wore in Sydney.

Nikki, who will be 45 when the Brisbane opening ceremony takes place, also revealed she'd be interested in getting her children involved in any potential performance.

Referring to her seven-year-old daughter, Skylah, Webster said she'd 'absolutely' let her take part in the ceremony, if asked.

The former child star captured the hearts of the world at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sydney Games in 2000, at the tender age of 13.

After it was announced last month that the Sunshine State had won its bid to host the Games in 11 years' time, veteran Channel Nine presenter Deborah Knight personally penned a petition on Change.org to secure Nikki's spot in the program.
