The Hunger Games prequel is set to commence with production early next year, according to Lionsgate motion picture group chairman Joe Drake.
The prequel will be based on the The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the novel from author Suzanne Collins released last year detailing the rise of President of Panem Coriolanus Snow, played by Donald Sutherland in the film series.
Drake, speaking on a quarterly earnings call, said that pre-production has been 'moving along really, really well,' Deadline reported.
