But after a record number of cases in New South Wales were unveiled over the weekend, all regional areas were plunged into a further lockdown until at least 12.01am on Sunday August 22.
The news was first confirmed by Deputy Premier John Barilaro on Twitter at 2.30pm on Saturday - not at the regular 11am Covid press conference with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
