Emma Corrin has addressed her decision to publicly request her pronouns be she/they, explaining it was important to put her 'authentic' self out there.

Speaking with W magazine, The Crown actress, 25, also recalled her first kiss and discussed her first love, as well as taking part in a kooky accompanying photoshoot.

Emma quietly changed her pronouns to she/they on her Instagram bio earlier this year - meaning she is happy to be addressed by either.

While Emma did not want to discuss the specifics surrounding her decision, she was aware that it would create headlines.

'It's hard when you have a platform, but I want to make everything feel very authentic,' Emma said.

'I think we've become much more aware of our positions in our communities and the circles in which we operate.'

Elsewhere in the chat, Emma reflected on her first kiss, admitting it wasn't quite the romantic moment she had hoped for.

She recalled: 'It was under a tree in a park by my house and there were a group of guys playing rugby really nearby and they were grunting and making weird noises.

'And I remember I laughed throughout the kiss... yep, broke up with me a week later guys, I was heartbroken, heartbroken!'

Emma went on to reference 'the love of her life', but did not identify the mystery suitor or whether they are still together.

She said: 'You know you have that person who's the first love of your love of life kind of person, I remember when we kissed for the first time.

'It was at at the end of my driveway and at night where he dropped me off from our date. And I ran up the driveway screaming. I felt like I was in a film and there should have been a backing track of me running in slow motion.'

She continued: 'I think we've become much more aware of our positions in our communities and the circles in which we operate'

Emma's comments came after she addressed coming out as 'queer' for the first time.

The actress said it felt 'scary and revealing' sharing the news on social media four months ago when she referred to herself as a 'queer bride' and changed her pronouns to she/they.

She added that she was still defining her gender status and that she has a 'long way to go on her journey'.
