Married At First Sight star and former AFL player Jake Edwards recently stepped away from the spotlight and completed a short stay at a wellness retreat. And now the 33-year-old has reflected on the past year, saying things are back on track for him and he's the 'happiest he's ever been'. In a candid Instagram post on Monday, Jake admitted: 'To say my last 12 months has been a roller coaster would be an understatement.' Speaking out: On Monday, Married At First Sight's Jake Edwards revealed he's the 'happiest he's ever been' after a 'rollercoaster 12 months' and a stay at a wellness retreat 'If you had of told me 12 months ago that I would be living in Queensland, working on a new career path, vegetarian, no intoxication and all of this after going away to spend four weeks living with monks with no distraction to find myself once again, I would have told you to get stuffed and you're delusional,' he explained. The reality star went on to say that he's the 'happiest he's ever been'. 'At this very moment I am the happiest I have ever been. I'm the best version of myself and I am so proud of the soul searching and confronting work I have done on myself to feel content, happy, grounded and at peace,' he said. 'I needed to step away': In June, Jake shared an emotional video with fans from a wellness retreat, after stepping away from the limelight following his very public split from Sophie Guidolin in May 'My mental health got to a point that I needed to step away, and that's what I did.' Jake's management confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the reality star wasn't in rehab, but instead took time away in a wellness retreat. Jake described the experience as both 'confronting and challenging'. 'As hard and as challenging as it's been, and confronting with many tears on the way, it's changed my life and probably saved my life as well,' he said at the time.
