Jessica Alba is opening up about the road to founding her billion-dollar wellness business The Honest Company.

The 40-year-old actress-turned-businesswoman shared that she 'absolutely' knew her company could achieve the astounding success it has seen in recent years in an interview with People published Wednesday.

The look into the start of her business comes after The Honest Company went public in May with a valuation of $1.44 billion.

According to Alba, she was originally so confident in The Honest Company that she had to tone down her vision while trying to get it funded.

'I actually had the biggest vision right away, and then I had to bring it down to earth,' she said.

'I just knew in my heart that this company should exist. If people knew that they could take their health and wellness into their own hands and make better choices, why wouldn't you? The hardest part was probably getting it off the ground.'

The initial drive to start her business required most of her attention and took up all her free time

'Every detail mattered. So I didn't sleep very much, and worked weekends and obsessed,' she admitted.

The Fantastic Four star co-founded The Honest Company in 2012 with Brian Lee, Sean Kane and Christopher Gavigan.
