Star Trek fans were treated to a new trailer for the next season of Star Trek: Picard on Thursday.

The show's network Paramount+ marked Star Trek Day with a thrilling peek at season two of the spin-off, which is set to premiere February 2022.

In the two-minute teaser, Patrick Stewart's Jean Luc Picard is forced to travel back in time after his nemesis Q (John de Lancie) crafts a sinister alternate reality.

Making Star Trek Day even more festive, creators also confirmed a third season was in the works.

The Picard teaser opens with the Captain snapping at Q, telling him: 'I am way too old for your bulls***.'

But in an instant, he's flung into another timeline, which morphed society into a 'totalitarian nightmare.'

'Do you understand what this mean?' Jeri Ryan's Seven Of Nine asks, after noticing her Borg implant was removed. 'Time has been broken.'

But Picard isn't discouraged, promising his crew: 'I will get us home together.'

'The only way to heal our future is to go back and repair the past,' he adds in another scene.
