Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew couldn't keep a straight face on Wednesday as she delivered an update on Nicki Minaj's recent Covid controversy.

Minaj, 38, made headlines overnight after she posted a tweet explaining she'd refused to take the Covid vaccine and had pulled out of her appearance at the Met Gala because the event required guests to be fully vaccinated.

Edwina, 38, struggled to contain her laugher as she told viewers Minaj's concerns about the vaccine stemmed from a bizarre story she'd heard about a 'cousin's friend in Trinidad' who supposedly became 'impotent' as a result of the jab.

'[Minaj] then claimed her cousin's friend in Trinidad became impotent after getting the jab, resulting in swollen testicles and a cancelled wedding,' she said.

Despite trying her best to keep a straight face, the pregnant TV presenter couldn't stop herself from bursting into fits of hysterical laughter.

'I feel sorry for the cousin's friend in Trinidad who has swollen balls and a cancelled wedding and it is nothing to do with Covid. Poor fella!' she chuckled.

Sunrise co-anchor David 'Kochie' Koch then remarked: 'I'm uncomfortable with the word "balls' coming out of your mouth.'

His comment sent the entire panel into a chorus of laughter.

Edwina became so hysterical she covered her face with both hands and had to close her eyes.

'I don't want to think about what you just said!' she squealed, adding: 'I'm uncomfortable with the word "swollen".'
