Katie McGlynn has insisted she's 'not a sexy person' and is dreading learning passionate dance routines on Strictly.
The former Coronation Street star, 28, says she'll have to 'morph' into a different person when performing sultry numbers like the Rumba, which is known for the dancer's erotic hip movements.
In a new interview, Katie admitted she's relieved the Strictly experience will be a fun change from her 'draining' final storyline on the ITV soap, where her character Sinead Tinker died of cervical cancer.
'It's going to be interesting': Katie McGlynn has insisted she's 'not a sexy person' and is dreading learning passionate dance routines on Strictly
Katie said: 'I am just not a sexy person. I am really awkward. I am just hoping on the day I can morph into a different character because I am just quite an awkward person so, it's going to be interesting.
'I'm most looking forward to the dresses, all the outfits, and I'm hoping I'll stay in until Halloween because I love dressing up. As soon as I get my fake tan on and all my sequins I'll feel like a princess.'
Speaking about her time on the Cobbles, Katie said: 'I love doing challenging storylines, that's what I do in normal day-to-day work, I like playing other people but when it's serious it can drain you and I am normally a positive, fun person.
'I always find the funny side of the most tragic events, I try to see the positive side and laugh at stuff instead of being upset so, Strictly is my cup of tea all over.

'I love dressing up': Katie, who shared a photo from Strictly host Tess Daly's dressing room, predicts she'll feel like a 'princess' after undergoing her makeover for the show
'I want to smile, and I want to laugh and have a good time and hopefully make some lifelong friends along the way.
'I am very nervous but very excited for the viewers to see a different side to me because I've always played a character and read from a script and done storylines so, for me to come out as myself is very nerve wracking so, I'm very nervous about it more than anything.'
Katie will be taking inspiration from the late Caroline Flack's Strictly experience, after she won the competition in 2014.
She's also sought advice from former Corrie co-star Catherine Tyldesley, 37, who competed on the dance show in 2019, as well as 2012 contestant Lisa Riley, 45.
'Challenging': Katie admitted she's relieved the Strictly experience will be a fun change from her 'draining' final storyline on Coronation Street, where her character died of cancer
Katie said: 'Caroline Flack was just incredible, if you watch her journey throughout it, she was insanely amazing.
'All my friends have been brilliant, Lisa Riley, all of them. I love the stories where they're not dancers and they learn and they're the underdog throughout the series and they pull it together near the end.
'My friend Catherine Tyldesley did it a couple of years ago and she gave me sound advice to enjoy every minute of it, she said to relax and to remember I'll know the routine by Friday or Saturday, and it doesn't feel like you're going to at the beginning, but it all comes together, and to enjoy it as much as possible.
'I messaged Lisa when I knew, she said the same thing, to relax and enjoy it and be myself.'
