And now a year later, Simon Cowell appears to have recovered well, as he was seen out on a bike ride in Malibu, California on Monday with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
The former X Factor boss, 61, looked happy and relaxed as he cycled around wearing a helmet before stopping for a water break and cuddling up to Lauren.

Simon dressed casually in a grey T-shirt and dark trousers and kept his sunglasses on for the outing as he chatted on the phone while taking a break.
Meanwhile Lauren kept cool in a grey vest, light pink trainers and black leggings as she got some exercise.
The pair looked loved up as they stopped for their water
