Updates: Former My Kitchen Rules stars Tresne Middleton and Carly Saunders' baby daughter Poppy was recently diagnosed with leukaemia. And on Friday, the couple provided an update on day 33 of Poppy's treatment 'When we get the results back from that we'll know what's next for Poppy, in terms of what protocol she goes on,' Carly explained. 'It's quite a long journey that we're going on but she's adorable and we love her and she's worth it,' added Tresne. The couple also thanked the nurses and the doctors at the hospital, as well as fans that have been donating money for Poppy's GoFundMe page. Last month, Carly and Tresne revealed that their then 12-week-old daughter Poppy has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. 'We love her and she's worth it': They shared that the tiny tot had a bone marrow sample taken, which was being sent to Sydney for testing The devastated couple - who appeared on the show in 2014 - wrote a joint Facebook status confirming the tragic news, which they say came as a 'major shock' to them as her 'only symptom was vomiting'. 'Today, Poppy is 12 weeks old and it is Carly’s birthday so we should be celebrating. But instead, our beautiful Poppy is having surgery,' the duo wrote. 'Poppy was diagnosed with leukaemia on Thursday, a major shock as her only symptom was vomiting - she didn’t even have a fever.' Heartbreaking: Last month, Carly and Tresne made the devastating announcement that Poppy has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia According to Cancer Research UK, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is a type of blood cancer that starts from young white blood cells in the bone marrow. The cancer can occur at any age, but is more common in young children (0-14 years) who represent close to 60% of all cases. The main treatment is chemotherapy. Many of the symptoms are vague and flu-like, including fatigue, fever, frequent infections, easy bruising and unexplained weight loss, breathlessness, swollen lymph nodes, feeling full or paler skin than usual. The couple added that the 'harrowing news has nearly broken us', before going on to thank the staff at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Private Hospital in Gateshead for helping their daughter. Tragic: 'Poppy was diagnosed with Leukaemia on Thursday, a major shock as her only symptom was vomiting - she didn’t even have a fever,' the pair wrote on Facebook 'Poppy’s treatment is going to be a long hard road and she will need a lot of blood,' the status continued. 'If you would like to help, we ask if you can donate blood. Blood stores are critically low because everyone assumes the blood donation centres are closed due to Covid. 'Please keep us in your prayers, we are praying that Poppy will be cured, and she will have a successful chemotherapy treatment with minimal pain and side effects.' The pair's close friend Lori Barrett also set up a GoFundMe page for the little girl, to help her parents with the financial pressures associated with her ongoing treatment.
