Dan Ewing has hit back after he was viciously trolled for talking about himself in the third person during his SAS Australia introduction earlier this month.

The Home and Away star, 36, says viewers don't understand how television works and clarified that he doesn't speak like that in real life.

He told the Imperfectly Perfect podcast: 'I worry about any Aussie who hasn't figured out how TV works by now and who actually believes I talk about myself in the third person.'

'I mean haven't done it before. Why the heck would I magically start now?' he added.

Dan also said he believes viewers aren't getting an honest depiction of what really happened on set of Seven's military-style show.

'It has more stitch-ups than a patchwork blanket,' he said of the editing.
