The 45-year-old will lose his cool after his plans for a sunken lounge are thwarted when he learns a main power line for the whole building runs directly underneath where he wants to build.

He doesn't realise this until spending hours insulating almost the entire floor, and then faces the daunting task of removing it all and starting over again.

Vito told Monday's TV Week of the grim discovery: 'My heart drops. Tan has wanted a sunken living room for the past 20 years, so this is a dream come true for us.'

Sunken rooms - where a living space is a few steps below the rest of the home – can be traced back to the 1920s, but have enjoyed a resurgence of late.

'When I find out there's three-phase power running through there, I know what that means: you probably can't move it at all, or if you can, it's going to take a long time and cost a lot of money,' he added.
