Kim Cattrall has joined the cast of a new comedy starring Robert De Niro amid her epic Sex and the City feud.

The actress, 65, will be playing a U.S. Senator in About My Father, a film inspired by the life of comic and actor Sebastian Maniscalco, according to Deadline.

The movie follows Maniscalco as he prepares to pop the question to his all-American girlfriend (played by Leslie Bibb) - but his 'old-school Italian immigrant father' Salvo (De Niro) 'insists on crashing a weekend with her tony parents.'

'Though cultures clash and it seems that the two families have nothing in common, by the end of the weekend, they'll be "la famiglia,"' Deadline reports.

Viewers will likely be seeing a lot of Cattrall, whose character Tigger is the mother of Maniscalco's love interest.

The casting news come as filming continues on the upcoming Sex And The City reboot, And Just Like That, which Kim has refused to participate in.

The new incarnation of the show will run for ten episodes on HBO.
