Alyssa Milano reveals her uncle is 'doing well' and is 'out of the hospital'

Alyssa Milano has given fans an update on her uncle's health following his heart attack back in August.

The uncle of the Charmed actress, Mitchell J. Carp - who she refers to as Uncle Mitch - suffered a heart attack whilst behind the wheel of his car earlier this year, but things are now looking up. 

Alyssa, 48, told Entertainment Tonight: 'He's doing well. I mean, he has a long road of recovery. He probably needs open heart surgery. Right now, he's out of the hospital, he's home, he has care and they're trying to build up his strength to get open heart surgery.' 

The actress was keen to share that he Uncle Mitch is out and about, and was even recently able to attend a baseball game in person. 

She told the site: 'He came to my son's baseball game the other day. I looked over and there was Uncle Mitch sitting in the stands. That was really amazing.' 

When the heart attack struck, Alyssa was sitting in the passenger seat of her uncle's car. While the actress appeared to emerge from the car crash unscathed, she used the accident to urge fans to take care of one another.

She wrote on Twitter: 'We should all take every opportunity we have to protect the people we love. Get vaccinated. Wear masks. Lock up your guns. Learn CPR. Small, common-sense actions,' she tweeted. 'It's not hard to take care of each other, but it is important.' 

Alyssa and her uncle were involved in an August 17 car accident on a freeway in Los Angeles that came after he had the heart attack at the wheel of a 2020 Ford Edge SUV. 

Milano reportedly leant over from her position in the passenger seat to hit the brakes with her hand as her uncle fell unwell, according to TMZ.

Law enforcement sources told the publication that the incident happened while the pair were driving in a Ford Edge.
