Arnold Schwarzenegger disappointed fans as he appeared only via video link at his Arnold Sports Festival at the Birmingham NEC on Sunday. 

The actor, 74, had previously promised fans he would be there in person, before issuing a last-minute tweet on Thursday revealing he had been advised by his doctor to pull out of the event due to an injury to his leg and foot.

Ticketholders of the sold-out convention were left furious after shelling out £84 to see the former governor of California taking part in a Q&A in-the-flesh.

'I am very upset I cannot make it because of my leg condition, he wrote on the social media platform.

'I injured my leg, my foot, my calf. The doctor told me not to travel. So I'm sorry about that. I'm going to beam in every so often during the weekend.

'You're going to see me on screen. So I'm looking forward to coming next year in 2022. I will be there,' he concluded.
