She is set to make history as the world's first bisexual lead of The Bachelorette.

And ahead of next Wednesday's season premiere, Brooke Blurton has revealed why she was hesitant to return to the Channel 10 dating franchise.

'I was scared,' Brooke, 26, told TV Week on Monday.

'The last two times, I didn't come out of this how I would have liked to,' she said, referring to her previous stints on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise.

Brooke explained: 'Being the Bachelorette, I thought, "This is my chance to actually define who I want in a person."'
