Davina McCall paid tribute to her late friend Sarah Harding during Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer telethon on Friday.

A photo of the late singer, who passed away in September after a battle with breast cancer, appeared on-screen while the TV presenter, 54, made a heartfelt speech. 

'She leaves such a great legacy in her music,' said Davina of the former Girls Aloud bandmember, who passed away at the age of 39.

The Masked Singer judge recently spoke about her heartbreaking reaction to Sarah's passing in an interview with The Sun.

She called the songstress 'absolutely brilliant' and 'so exciting to be around' while reflecting on their friendship, which spanned almost two decades.

'She'd given herself a hard time for not going to sort it out earlier. That, for me, is always the hardest thing,' she said.

'There's nothing like the look on someone's face when they realise that what they're being told is there's no treatment. This is palliative care from now on.' 

The Popstars: The Rivals host met the songstress all the way back in 2002 when she auditioned to be part of the band which would later be named Girls Aloud.

They went on to work together in sports reality show The Jump in 2016, where Davina said Sarah was 'such good fun'.

Davina also made it clear that cancer sufferers should not blame themselves for failing to detect the disease in time for a successful treatment. 

'We need to help people to find ways of detecting changes in their bodies, but never shaming anybody, ever, ever, ever, and least of all shaming yourself, ever. If you get sick, it's not your fault,' she declared.
