The Block's Josh and Luke Packham found themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal when they got their hands on a leaked photo of the production schedule.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the twins, 27, revealed how they cope with the public scrutiny, including backlash from viewers on social media.

Luke said he goes by the mantra of not worrying 'what others think of you', while Josh revealed how he only uses social media 'minimally' as it's just a 'fake bubble'.

'Don't worry about what others think of you. It's something very simple and it couldn't be more relevant in the world we live in today,' Luke told the publication.

'People are so afraid to speak their beliefs or try something new out of fear they might be shut down. I've come to realise that as soon as you release yourself from what others think you will lead a more authentic and fulfilling life.'

Josh, who tells himself he's going to have a great day each morning, also revealed how he switches social media off completely when working and uses it minimally.

With people often comparing their lives to others, Josh said he's far happier when he lives in the moment as opposed to a 'fake bubble that just isn't reality'.

The former Love Island stars, who had 'no renovation experience' before joining the Nine show, told Daily Mail Australia this week they'd been typecast as the 'naughty boys' of the season, which they found 'a little disappointing'.

While they accept they 'did wrong' by getting involved in the cheating scandal at the start of the season, they insist this one-sided portrayal doesn't tell the full story.

'With the whole scandal, obviously we did wrong, but obviously it was blown out of proportion, too,' Josh began.

He stressed that he and Luke weren't trying to hide from the scandal or excuse their bad behaviour - and neither were Tanya and Vito Guccione, the other team involved in the plot - but said producers were 'only showing a slight angle of it'.

Had they shown footage of the many other lighthearted moments at Bronte Court, Luke added, the entire season would have had a whole different vibe.
