Nadine Coyle has said the last few weeks have been 'awful' since the death of her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding

The singer, 36, told how she fees like she has received signs from Sarah, who passed away in September aged 39 from breast cancer, with things in her house moving around on their own.

Speaking on The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio 1, she said: 'It's been awful, I have to say. I have to be honest.

'It feels like it's been a really traumatic year and a half, almost two years at this point. It's a cruel disease and I know many people suffer with it. We definitely lost a great one there.'

Nadine also spoke of how close the pair were and said they remained in touch long after Girls Aloud went their separate ways.

She said: 'She was unbelievable. Me and Sarah have been close and always remained close. We were a great support for each other in the band and for years after.'

Nadine recently took part in the new Irish musical talent show Last Singer Standing and said she felt like she received signs from Sarah during filming.

She said: 'I was so close to her in life. There's definitely been things, she's made her presence known a few times. As I was shooting the show, it was right in the middle of it all and people were being so kind.

'There was a couple of days when the headphones just flew across the table and it happened three days in a row and the makeup girls were saying, "that has to be Sarah."

'One night I was taking about me in my house and something flew off the shelf. I was like, "Is this Sarah?" I'm still thinking she's going to phone.'

Nadine told how the filming schedule for the show was already set when she heard the news of Sarah's passing.

She said: 'The show was scheduled, everything was booked. There was no way they could take a break for me to grieve. It was straight back into work. Everyone was so kind and patient with me, it was great. '

On Sunday, Nadine posted a heartwarming snap of herself alongside Sarah.

Sharing the photo on her Instagram Stories, the pair are both seen smiling while attending an event.

Nadine, who sported a gold shimmering dress in the snap, wrote alongside the post: 'She looks so happy in this!'

Sarah and Nadine were in the chart-topping band from 2002-2013 alongside Cheryl, 38, Nicola Roberts, 35, and Kimberley Walsh, 39.

Sarah tragically passed away from breast cancer on September 5, with her mother confirming her death on Instagram.
