The Project's Carrie Bickmore left her co-host Waleed Aly puzzled when she revealed her childhood nickname on Tuesday.

Bickmore, 40, made the admission while discussing Kanye West legally changing his name to the nickname used by his family, Ye. 

'I used to get [called] "faceache",' laughed Carrie, to the puzzled looks of co-hosts Peter Helliar and Aly.

'Faceache' can be used as an informal term for an ugly or miserable-looking person.

A mystified Waleed asked 'Why did you get called faceache?' however Carrie was laughing so hard her answer could not be heard.

Chrissie Swan joked of the nickname, 'That's just something to put on the list for the therapist this week.'

It's not the first time Carrie has been the butt of jokes about her childhood appearance.

During an episode of The Project earlier this year, Bickmore was surprised when her co-stars unearthed an embarrassing throwback photo. 

The TV host laughed helplessly as Helliar, 45, cracked jokes about the image, in which Carrie was 16, and attending a school ball with a date.
