Debra Messing has apologized for seemingly shading Kim Kardashian after it was first announced that the reality star would be hosting SNL.
While many Twitter users accused the actress, 53, of bullying the 40-year-old reality star by questioning 'why' she was selected for the gig, she clarified that was 'never' her goal.
During an appearance on the Tamron Hall show, the Emmy winner explained did not intend 'to troll' the mom-of-four, before an apology to anyone who misunderstood.

'That was never my intention. She is this phenomenon. I mean, you know, she is a cultural icon,' Messing explained.
As a longtime fan of the long-running NBC series, the Will & Grace alum noted that 'grew up with SNL' and 'they have had, for decades, this sort of formula.'
'And I noticed that they changed the formula, and I was like, "Oh, does she have a new TV show coming out? Does she have a book coming out? Is she in a movie?" And she didn't have anything coming out,' the performer added.
Messing also admitted she has 'living under a rock' and no longer has a 'finger on the pulse of pop culture' because she's so 'focused on activism.'
