Coronation Street fans have hailed Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, 72, a hero after he saved Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) from death on Wednesday night's episode.
The double-bill episode saw Abi's life be put in danger after she fell into a sinkhole with the killer of her son Corey Bent (Maximus Evans).
Abi held a gun in the scenes, which she planned to use to kill Corey with but Roy stepped in just in time to convince her not to.

The veteran soap star used his jacket to lift Corey to safety after Abi decided against her masterplan.
Fans were left rejoicing after Roy's heroic actions, and took to Twitter to express their happiness, with many also joking about the strength of his anorak.
