His joke about 'idiots' came as the panel were discussing an AI robot being detained at the border in Egypt after it was suspected of being a spy, with guards demanding the removal of its eyes.
With Rylan showing concern for the robot, saying: 'What a lovely set of eyes, beautiful woman', Ian then asked: 'You've got a thing with robots, haven't you?'
The former X Factor star then responded: 'I just think, you know what, I've just come across such a lot of idiots this year! To be honest.'

Rylan shook his head as he said his joke before giggling while team member Ian roared with laughter beside him.
And though he didn't directly state who his remark was aimed at, it could be suggested that he was alluding to use of dating apps following the breakdown of his marriage.
