He may be the outspoken 'bad boy' of breakfast radio, but Kyle Sandilands could soon be receiving one of Australia's highest honours.

Despite his many controversies, the KIIS FM host, 50, is apparently being considered for an Order of Australia medal in next year's Queen's Birthday honours list.

Sandilands addressed the rumours on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday, telling listeners his advocacy for the Covid-19 vaccine - and in particular his 'Get Vaxxed, Baby' jingle - had caught the attention of some very influential people.

He made the admission during an interview with former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke, who was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2020 'for distinguished service to cricket as a player at the national and international level'.

'I'm hoping to get one this year [sic]. You know how I did the "Get Vaxxed, Baby" campaign? Someone said [to me], "Oh, you might be up for an Order of Australia,"' he said.
