Jesy Nelson never wanted to be locked in a feud with her former Little Mix bandmates and feels it is 'getting a bit much'.

The singer, 30, quit the band last December, saying she found the pressure of being in a girl group difficult to deal with.

A source told MailOnline that Jesy believes she and the band can both exist in the music industry following the blackfishing controversy over her Boyz music video.

The insider said: 'The last thing she wanted was to be embroiled in a Little Mix vs Jesy feud.

'The Girls have been through a lot together and she truly believes everyone can co-exist in the industry without the war of words. The fans deserve better. It's all getting a bit much.'

Leigh-Anne Pinnock previously accused Jesy of blackfishing in the music video for Boyz in leaked messages with influencer NoHun.

Jesy then took part in an Instagram livestream with Boyz collaborator Nicki Minaj, who accused Leigh-Anne of trying to ruin Jesy's new solo career and branded the new mother and the rest of the group 'jealous miserable clowns'.

The songstress was then said to be 'devastated' Leigh-Anne had 'sparked racial hatred' and a new wave of intense trolling towards her, telling pals she couldn't believe 'someone she once called family could be so cruel.'

However, a source clarified to MailOnline: 'It's not fair to criticise Leigh-Anne over this. She was just upset as were others over blackfishing, and social media is awash with it.'

But, despite a difficult week, Jesy is delighted with the chart performance and is 'pouring her heart into writing new music' with the studio becoming a 'sanctuary'.

An insider told MailOnline over the weekend: 'It's been a tough week for Jesy, but a top 5 debut solo single is a massive achievement; there hasn't been any other UK female solo artist to do that this year.

'Olivia Rodrigo is the only international female solo artist to have debuted in the top 5, so Jesy is in good company.

'She's grateful to all her fans who have supported her and the single.'

Jesy has been focusing on her music following the row.

A source told MailOnline: 'Jesy has spent the last couple of days in the recording studio.

'The studio has become a sanctuary for her; and she's been pouring her heart and soul into writing new songs.

'Jesy wants to focus solely on her music and solo career and not get caught up in any further feuds with other artists; she's got some big plans for the future and upcoming music.'

Meanwhile, Jesy was never planning on releasing an album this year, contrary to recent reports.

According to The Sun, the singer's upcoming solo record would not be released until 2022 due to recent controversies over her single Boyz and a feud with former Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

However, a source told MailOnline Jesy was never planning on releasing her album this year and has chosen to keep a 'dignified silence' following online trolling over blackfishing claims.

An insider said: 'To claim that an album would be released after one single release is literally laughable and obviously was never part of the plan.

'Jesy is still in the studio recording new music and a second single is in the works. Anybody working in the music industry knows that an album would never follow one single release.

'Jesy has been subject to severe trolling over the past couple of weeks and has kept a dignified silence despite the vindictive swipes against her.'

An official spokesperson for Polydor said: 'An album was never planned for Jesy Nelson in 2021 and therefore these claims are untrue.'

It comes after a source told The Sun: 'There was lots of excitement that the album would be
