She undoubtedly turned heads at an exclusive Melbourne Cup celebration event hosted by Lexus in Sydney on Wednesday.

But according to rules made by race organisers, Delta Goodrem's outfit choice was a rebellious one - as anything with a cut-out detail is now deemed 'unacceptable' in a dress code crackdown.

She turned to the side to reveal the cheeky backless element of her outfit, and accessorised with a pink boater-style hat, red statement earrings, a designer purse and lilac heels.

While Delta enjoyed the event today, the club's members enclosure warned this week that it will be 'strictly enforcing' regulations throughout the Melbourne Cup carnival, which kicks off Saturday October 30 and ends on November 6.

Other garments that are banned include jeans, shorts, leggings and bulky jackets.
