Shakira has detailed the prejudice she faced in the music industry due to her Colombian roots, including being the butt of jokes about drug trafficking. 

The Hips Don't Lie singer, 44, appeared on the cover of Glamour UK's November Digital Issue - an environmental special - and within, she discussed her work with Prince William as well as the adversity she has faced. 

She looked sensational on the front cover of the magazine, as she posed in a duo of bold ensembles in a bright colours against an al fresco green and blue backdrop while pulling a smouldering pout into the camera.

Speaking about what it was like to join the industry, she said: 'I think I suffered more from other kinds of prejudice, like being Colombian...

'I remember when I had my first big break in music outside Colombia, there were many double entendre comments about what it meant to be Colombian, and usually associated with drug trafficking, all of that...

'It's like, we're always the joke, it was uncomfortable.' 

Shakira also spoke about her work with the Royal, who recruited her to help him with his Earthshot: How to Save Our Planet project in October last year.
