AFL superstar Luke Hodge has secured a premium price for his family home in Glen Iris before it even went to auction.

The Hawthorn great is estimated to have fetched more than $3.38 million for the two-storey home, reports Realestate.com.au.

Hodge, 37, and his family sold the property after making a permanent move to Queensland following his final two seasons with the Brisbane Lions.

The early sale of the stunning pad allowed the Hodges' to purchase in Brisbane, according to selling agent Damien Davis from Jellis Craig Boroondara.

'The vendors are ecstatic with the end result – it allows them to purchase in Brisbane,' Davis added.

Hodge, who purchased the property in 2009 for $1.46 million, was initially hoping to get between $2.9 to $3.1 million for the home.
