He sat down for a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey for the latest installment of The Oprah Conversation, which premiered on Apple TV+ Friday.

And Will Smith revealed that he drank the psychedelic plant based drug Ayahuasca over 12 times during a retreat in Peru while having marital problems with wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

The movie star, 53, went on a two week long silent retreat when he took the drug under supervision, leading him to question his marriage to Jada, according to The Sun.

Ayahuasca, or yage, contains Dimethyltryptamine, known as DMT; it comes from the stem bark of the vines Banisteriopsis caapi and B. inebrians.

Ayahuasca is a drink that is said to bring inner peace and have healing properties by purging toxins and can produce reactions including vomiting.

The experiences with the drug can last six to 10 hours and are guided by shamans in  certain countries in South America, where is it legal to consume ayahuasca.

Will's decision to try the drug took place while he was having marital problems with Jada, who revealed in 2020 she had an 'entanglement' with musician August Alsina for four years.

Will told Oprah during the interview: It's about being able to find that contentment within yourself - not with external stimuli,' per The Sun.
