Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars are reportedly set to be banned from advertising cosmetic surgery, adult entertainment and diet pills on social media. 

ITV have spoken with soap stars about what they can flog and promote online so that it doesn't reflect badly on the channel or the shows they star in, according to The Sun

It comes after earlier this week Sarah Jayne Dunn was sacked from her £120k a year job on Hollyoaks for refusing to leave the x-rated OnlyFans.

The move reportedly will also allow cast members to post paid advertisements - but only with the producers' blessing - to prevent them from quitting the shows because they make more money online. 

A source told the publication: 'Stars like former Corrie actor Helen Flanagan are inundated with opportunities to promote products on platform including Instagram.

'And earnings can often dwarf any salary actors get paid on the soaps, meaning it can be more lucrative to leave the shows to effectively sell goods.

'This is simply a smart way to ensure they can still advertise products while remaining on the shows.

'But they spell out in black and white what's deemed unacceptable - as previously it's been a grey area.'
