Sunday was an incredible result for The Block, which ran for 50 episodes this year.

The program had actually struggled early in the season when it lost almost half its audience to Channel Seven's The Voice Australia in August.

But The Voice only had a short run and The Block was able to make a full recovery, regularly drawing 800,000 to 900,000 metro viewers per night.

This year's season, dubbed Fans vs Faves, featured heightened tension between the teams as well as a high-profile cheating scandal.

The flamboyant pair who starred in season 15 and returned for Fans v Faves, revealed how the prize money and crowning title will change their lives.

'We never had expectations or even hopes for that amount. This changes our lives as we've got a mortgage that we can't jump over, but with this prize we can take a great leap at it now,' Mitch said.

Mark added: 'I think we're in shock as we stuck to our guns about what we thought a family home was about and it was a big risk.'

Josh and Luke implicated Tanya on Sunday's episode, saying that she was the one who took the photo showing the production schedule, and sent it to them.

Tanya broke down and finally took responsibility for the photo.
