Auditioning with John Legend's Ordinary People on The Voice UK was one of the first rungs on her music career ladder.

But for Becky Hill, her appearance on the famed singing competition back in 2012 didn't promise a smooth transition into the world of music, with her admitting there are still times she thinks about quitting the industry.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the 27-year-old singer-songwriter, who released her debut album Only Honest On The Weekend back in August, explained that it's really difficult to 'stand out and be unique.'

'There are still times I think about quitting - there are still times I think about finding something else to do. Being in the game for nearly ten years, it’s only now that people are recognising who I am and what I do,' she said.

Songs that Becky wrote an astonishing nine years ago have finally featured on her first-ever album, a moment that she dubbed 'huge' after a considerably tumultuous time with record labels.

'I had a record deal when I was 19 and then I got dropped. Then I went independent and was putting all of my own money into my own record label,' she explained.

Thanks to Radio 1's support, the pop star bagged herself another record deal and believes she has shown people her worth.

'It’s taken me a long time to believe in myself,' the Remember hitmaker admitted. 'Now it’s finally paying off and it’s beautiful to see.'

Worcestershire-born Becky, who is now based in London, has reaped the rewards of staying optimistic all of these years, and summer 2021 saw her grace the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festival - and she has just completed a sensational headline tour.

Rewind almost ten years and 17-year-old Becky would have been gearing up for her iconic audition on The Voice, where she formed a tenth of Jessie J's team.
