Married At First Sight's Marilyse Corrigan shared a beaming snap from her hospital bed on Friday after donating one of her kidneys to save her ex Shaun's life.

The reality star, 37, took part in a kidney donation scheme, where her organ went to a woman she has never met before, meaning Shaun received one in exchange. 

Shaun suffers with polycystic kidney disease, which causes numerous cysts to grow , reducing kidney function and leading to kidney failure.

In the post she happily proclaimed that 'her job was done now' and that she was going home to rest, before adding an update on Shaun's condition saying he was 'doing well'.  

Posting from her hospital bed, the star who looked relaxed in a cream hoodie, said: 'We did it! I look far better than I feel for sure.

'Thank you for all the messages of support.

'It has honestly helped get me through the last few days. Hearing so many stories of donations, I have read every message and it has been so comforting to read.

'I've just been to see Shaun, he is doing well, he actually looks better than I do! Which is to be expected.

'Home time. Need my bed & lots of rest now. My job is now done.' 

Although Marilyse is healthy, tests results showed she was not the correct fit for her former partner, who was told he would need dialysis and a donor transplant in 2019.

The mum of two, who shares Josh, 13, and Callum, 15, with Shaun, kept her plans completely secret until recently and was motivated by the distress of her children.

She told OK! magazine, 'They were very upset because they don't understand it. And we had to explain to them what it meant and they had to witness, when they were staying with their dad and he'd be on the [dialysis] machine every night.' 

The reality star went on to add that none of his family are able to give their own kidney due to various reasons, including their own health conditions, and Shaun had been on a very competitive waiting list for a dead donor.

After Shaun had visited her house to see their boys, Marilyse surprised him with a letter which detailed her plans. After she presented it to him, he was moved to tears by the kind gesture, she said.
