Alex Rodriguez is putting his foot down to quash rumors that he's been growing cozy with former Real Housewives Of New York City star Kelly Bensimon.
A representative told E! News on Tuesday that 'there is nothing there' between the 46-year-old former baseball star and the 53-year-old former RHONY fixture.
What made the stark dismissal so surprising was that a rep for Kelly had previously told Page Six that she and A-Rod had been carrying on a 'fun text relationship' over the past few months.
He said, she said: A rep for Alex Rodriguez, 46, shut down rumors of a budding relationship with Kelly Bensimon, 53, in a statement to E! News on Tuesday — after a rep for Bensimon claimed they had developed a 'fun text relationship'
A source claimed to Page Six earlier on Tuesday that things had been heating up between the two, though it had remained strictly virtual.
'They have a cute and flirty text relationship,' they said. 'Alex has asked her out more than once although she has not gone on a date with him.'
Although publicists and representatives are often tightlipped about their clients, Kelly's rep seemed to confirm much of the reporting, though they didn't go as far as calling their chats 'flirty.'
'They’ve been having a fun text relationship for the last couple of months,' said her rep. 'She thinks he is charming and a gentleman.'
