They're the thrill-seeking Aussie family known for wearing their signature khaki attire.

But it was a more formal day for the Irwins on Thursday, when Robert Irwin shared a photo on Instagram of the family all suited up in the city.

They were pictured smiling for the camera as Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell held their seven-month-old daughter Grace Warrior.

'One of the rarest creatures in the animal kingdom… Robert in a suit,' the 17-year-old photographer captioned his post.

He wore a light blue suit instead of the khaki shirt and pants he usually wears - just like his late father Steve Irwin used to do.

Robert shared another photo of himself looking out over a balcony towards the city.

The family photos come after a report suggested Australia Zoo was in even more financial strife than previously thought.

After the Irwins admitted the zoo was in dire straits in February, an employee revealed to New Idea that redundancies had already taken place at the sanctuary. 

According to the source, 'several key staffers' had been made redundant in the past few weeks.

The magazine also reported on rumours that matriarch Terri Irwin, 57, 'might soon explore the option of selling' the once-popular tourist destination. 

Terri recently expressed her homesickness in a telling tweet, writing, 'I miss my home town, Eugene Oregon.'

'I miss my family, friends and the beautiful wildlife,' Steve Irwin's widow added. 

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Australia Zoo and Terri Irwin for comment.
