'Moments after I came out to my dad': The Bachelor alum Colton Underwood fired up his Instagram page this Tuesday to promote his upcoming Netflix docu-series In the caption of his new Instagram poster for the Netflix show Colton wrote: 'This image was captured moments after I came out to my dad, which was one of the most meaningful parts of my coming out journey.' He added: 'I'm looking forward to sharing more of my story with you including the lessons I've been learning along the way.' The former professional football player rounded off his message by announcing: 'Coming Out Colton premieres on Netflix December 3rd.' Colton led the 2019 season of The Bachelor where gay guest star Billy Eichner famously teased him: 'Maybe you're the first gay Bachelor and we don't even know!' Close relationship: Colton's father Scott Underwood has been supportive since the reality star came out as gay; the pair are pictured together Cassie Randolph ultimately won the season and they dated for a year and half, during which she helped care for him when he had COVID-19. Their split came in May 2020 - and then that September she succeeded in obtaining a temporary restraining order against him. She accused Colton of stalking behavior, including alleging that he taped a tracking device under the back bumper of her car. A police report followed in October but by November - at Cassie's own request - the restraining order and investigation were dropped. The way they were: He came out as gay this April months after his split from his Bachelor girlfriend Cassie Randolph, who accused him of stalking her in the wake of their breakup Colton became the first openly gay Bachelor this April when he came out of the closet on Good Morning America. During a subsequent Variety interview he did not directly admit to Cassie's allegations but said he was 'sorry' for how he acted. 'Controlling situations to try to grasp at any part of the straight fantasy that I was trying to live out was so wrong,' he said. He said he came out to his publicist months before doing so publicly because 'I, at one point, during my rock bottom and spiral, was getting blackmailed.' Throwback: Colton led the 2019 season of The Bachelor where Cassie won his hand, after which they were together for over a year After visiting a spa popular with gay men 'just to look,' he got an email from an unidentified sender who purported to have nudes of Colton at the venue. Although Colton has not seen any such pictures himself, the prospect of being outed with them was enough of a scare that he confided in his publicist. In the same interview it emerged that when Colton was in high school his father Scott had discovered gay porn on his computer. Colton recalled: 'I just said that I was curious and I was exploring and just looking. I remember having that conversation with him and being like: "Just don’t tell Mom."' Side by side: Colton now appears to be in a relationship with one Jordan C. Brown whom he is pictured with earlier this month at the star-studded Baby2Baby gala When he eventually came out to his father as an adult Scott was unsurprised and wondered why Colton had not told the truth as a teen when asked. 'First, I put that on myself - what was I doing that he felt he couldn’t open up to me? But Colton said: "I didn’t know what I was yet. I was still struggling." I understood that. He was still trying to figure himself out,' said Scott. Colton pointed out: 'My dad is proud to say that he is a conservative Republican, and he is also proud to say, I have a gay son. I think it’s important for America to hear that and see that. Right now, the media makes it seem like there is no middle ground.' Earlier days: Colton, who was a professional football player before his segue into reality TV, is pictured in 2017 attending a Golden Globes after-party in Beverly Hills Meanwhile Scott also endorsed the Netflix series saying: 'If it just helps a few young men and women come out and be proud of themselves and understand that all parents aren’t going to be upset, it can save lives.' A couple of months ago Colton was spotted on a Hawaiian holiday locking lips with a man identified as Jordan C. Brown. The pair appear to be an item now as earlier this month they also went together to the star-studded annual Baby2Baby gala in Los Angeles.
