Crystelle dashed her hopes of winning The Great British Bake Off during Tuesday night's final after serving up focaccia that was still raw.

The baker, 26, was hoping to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with the bread flavored with honey and garlic, but instead was told it was 'inedible'.

Viewers were gutted for the contestant after the gaffe, with some even claiming she could have beat winner Giuseppe it if had been cooked properly.

'Right, focaccia,' Paul commented as the finalist presented her dish.

She explained: 'It's a za'atar. garlic and honey focaccia.'

After tasting the bake, Prue awkwardly commented: 'Uh, this is not recognisable as focaccia.'

'That's raw dough,' Paul added. 'What have you done? I mean that is actually raw... has it been in the oven?'

Paul went on: 'It's got no rise on it at all. That's inedible that one.'

Observing the rest of the dish, Prue stated: 'That's a pity.'

'I've never seen anything like it,' Paul remarked.

A disappointed Crystelle responded: 'I'm really sorry, I don't know what happened, that's bizarre.'

Paul concluded: 'But overall, I think your flavors and what you did try was very good.'

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to express their sympathy after the error, while some said she would have won if it hadn't been raw.

One wrote: 'Think it was Crystelle all the way until her foccacia was raw. Which was worse than his Belgian Buns being a bit over cooked. They were very close though!'
