Don McLean took to Twitter on Tuesday to congratulate Taylor Swift after she broke a record he had held for almost 50 years with American Pie with her new song All Too Well (Taylor's Version).
Swift's All Too Well (Taylor's Version), which spans 10:13 minutes, earlier this week dethroned McLean's hit (8:42 minutes) for the longest song to hit the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
'Let’s face it, nobody ever wants to lose that #1 spot, but if I had to lose it to somebody, I sure am glad it was another great singer/songwriter such as Taylor,' the 76-year-old singer-songwriter said. 'Congratulations @taylorswift13!'
