Remember the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Not the part with the space baby. Nor with the space hotel room.
But the extended sequence just before that, as the astronaut David Bowman crosses time and space and thousands of colours stream past his eyes.
Exo One explicitly references that sequence in between each of its stages. You, too, as the pilot of a strange, spherical spacecraft, are crossing time and space. Thousands of colours stream past your eyes. It is very 2001 — and very trippy.
But what is the actual game? Its point seems to be momentum. You build it by rolling along the ground or diving from the air, and you release it by zooming up as planetscapes recede beneath you. There are no bad guys to fight. You just have to get from A to B.
