Abbie Chatfield believes that Channel Ten's Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise is officially 'dead', after Brooke Blurton's season pulled in the lowest ratings in the history of the franchise.

Speaking on her podcast, It's A Lot, Abbie said that she thinks the show's days are over for good, despite producers going to their best efforts to present a more diverse cast this year.

'That was an interesting season,' Abbie began.

'I loved the representation, obviously, we loved it, it was wonderful seeing all the diversity on screen.'

'Do I think the franchise is dead? Yes. Because if Brooke couldn't bring back the ratings who could? If this Bachelorette [season] couldn't bring back the f***ing ratings, who could?'

Abbie went on to say that she feels that there wasn't a particular thing to blame for the show's disastrous ratings, but rather that people simply got bored.

The ratings for this year's Bachelorette finale and the final decision are the worst in the franchise's history, with just 361,000 metro viewers tuning in.

Last year, Becky and Elly Miles' season premiere had a similarly disappointing metro audience of 500,000 which grew marginally to 573,000
