Kyle Sandilands shuts down anti-vax producer who said 'only vaccinated people' have the Omicron variant with a very simple argument By Jo Scrimshire For Daily Mail Australia Published: 02:29 GMT, 29 November 2021 | Updated: 02:30 GMT, 29 November 2021 Viewcomments Radio host Kyle Sandilands has slapped down a producer who seemed to suggest unvaccinated people were somehow immune the new Omicron variant of Covid-19. Senior producer Pedro Vitola, who is an anti-vaxxer, made an ignorant remark on Monday about feeling safe from Omicron since 'only vaccinated people have got it'. The suggestion that vaccinated Australians were somehow to blame for the spread of Omicron angered Sandilands, who silenced Mr Vitola with a single argument. Silenced: Radio host Kyle Sandilands has slapped down a producer who seemed to suggest unvaccinated people were somehow immune the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 He pointed out that Omicron had only been detected in vaccinated Aussies arriving from overseas because unvaccinated people are unable to travel. Sandilands also warned Vitola that now the mutation is in Australia, he and other unvaccinated people are at a significantly higher risk of contracting, spreading and becoming seriously ill with the unpredictable variant. 'Pedro, are you worried about being murdered by the new Covid variant? Because you're the only unvaccinated one here,' he said at about 6:10am. Misinformed: Senior producer Pedro Vitola (pictured), who is an anti-vaxxer, made an ignorant remark on Monday about feeling safe from Omicron since 'only vaccinated people have got it'. The suggestion that vaccinated Australians were somehow to blame for the spread of Omicron angered Sandilands, who silenced Mr Vitola with a single argument 'Not worried at all,' Vitola smugly replied. 'And actually only people that are vaccinated have got it.' 'Sorry, what's that?' snapped Sandilands. 'Sorry, that's not true. Vaccinated people can carry it, but when you get it, you're dead.' 'I... I didn't argue that,' Vitola mumbled from the private glass booth he's forced to work from because he refuses the jab. 'What are you saying "only vaccinated can get it". That's not true,' Sandilands asked. Logic: Sandilands (pictured in 2014) pointed out that Omicron had only been detected in vaccinated Aussies arriving from overseas because unvaccinated people are unable to travel He then explained that Omicron, which was first reported to the WHO from South Africa on November 24, had only been detected in vaccinated people so far because they are the only people who 'are allowed to travel' internationally. KIIS FM newsreader Brooklyn Ross chimed in: 'But once it is here [in] someone who's vaccinated it can spread quite easily to the unvaccinated.' Sandilands said he wouldn't be surprised to see Vitola one day recording a video from his hospital bed admitting he was wrong to refuse the vaccine. Warning: Sandilands warned Vitola that now the mutation is in Australia, he and other unvaccinated people are at a significantly higher risk of contracting, spreading and becoming ill with the unpredictable variant. Pictured: the countries where Omicron has been detected 'You'll be s**ting yourself doing your "bro, bro, I was wrong" videos from the hospital like all your other friends,' he said. '"Bro, I was wrong, I looked at all the wrong stuff, I went down the wormhole, it's too late now."' Sandilands then made the sounds of laboured breathing through a ventilator as co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson urged him not to make fun of Vitola. Two fully vaccinated travellers who touched down in Sydney on Saturday night from South Africa were infected with the new strain.
