Tom Daley has revealed he plans to take a year off diving following his triumphant performance at the Olympics in Tokyo.

The diver, 27, who won gold and bronze medals at this year's event, said he has not been on a diving board once since the games.

Speaking on Thursday's episode of Lorraine, he said: 'I haven't set foot on a diving board since Tokyo. I  always said I was going to take a little break after the Olympics, probably a year.

'I haven't dived for a long time now. I'm going to see where I am next year and figure out where I want to go from there.'

Tom scored a gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform alongside Matty Lee while he won bronze in the men's 10m platform.

Tom also spoke of his love of knitting and crocheting and spent much of the interview knitting with Lorraine.

His husband Dustin Lance Black told him people on film sets often knit squares just to pass the time, lots of people do, and he gave it a go, adding: 'Me being me, I got obsessed with it'.

On his son Robbie, who's now three and a half, Tom explained: 'It's the most perfect time of year now. He's just adorable.

'Elf on the Shelf we've started off and all of those things, and he's like, 'Is he really going to see Santa at night and come back and be somewhere different?' Yeah really, Robbie.

'We've always said that we want to have more kids, but it's not quite as simple for us as a bottle of wine and a good time… doesn't quite happen like that, but eventually we'd love to have a bigger family.'

It comes after Tom looked loved-up as he reunited with his husband Dustin in sweet snaps with their three-year-old son Robbie last month.
