Selma Blair is opening up about her life and battle with multiple sclerosis, in her debut book titled Mean Baby. 

The actress, 49, took to Instagram to encourage fans to pre-order the memoir while sharing an image of the book's cover - that features a portrait of the star from 1999 - on Thursday. 

'Bit by scrap by journal pages and letters, I wrote my first book: Mean Baby,' Selma wrote in the caption and later alluded to the difficulty she faced in writing the memoir while grappling with her MS diagnosis.

The Hellboy actress went on to explain the title by sharing an anecdote about how older neighborhood kids would come into her family home to meet the her as a baby and would leave screaming at how mean she was.

'I was proud I could send older kids scrambling never to visit again,' she wrote.  

While the book is sure to have a number of amusing anecdotes such as that one, it will also deal
