Ashley Cain has revealed he has buried his recently passed grandmother Cynthia next to his late daughter Azaylia in a heartbreaking post. 

The former footballer, 31, took to Instagram to share an update after the funeral last Friday and poignantly told how 'there will never be a moment where they're alone.'

Ashley and his partner Safiyya's daughter Azaylia sadly lost her life on April 25th at just eight months old following a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

He wrote in a post about his grandmother's funeral: 'Last Friday we lay to rest a strong and powerful matriarch of a lady, my grandma Cynthia Theresa Cain.

'Her garden is the plot above my daughter Azaylia which means now there will never be a moment where they're alone. May you rest forever in eternal paradise grandma and look after my beautiful little girl for me in heaven.' 

Ashley added: 'I buried my daughter towards the start of 2021 and I returned to the same place to bury my grandma at the end. People say that there has to be good things happen next year, but all the good on this earth could never make the things in my world feel better.'

He went on to explain how his heart 'will never mend' and how his pain would 'never go'.

'But I will fight until the end and my strength will just have to grow,' he continued. 'My grandmas maiden name was Diamond and I decided to pass that family name along with Cain on to my daughter.

'So now myself and my family have 2 precious diamonds shining down on us from the sky. The note on the cross in the last picture breaks my heart every time I see it 'Great grandma together again love Azaylia xxxx.'

Last month Ashley revealed his grandmother has died in a heartbreaking Instagram post.

His full post read: 'While I was away I got the devastating news that my Grandma had sadly passed away and joined the angels in paradise.

'Grandma Cain you created a great, strong, successful and respectful family from nothing but hard work, tough love and good blood. You will be missed forever by us all.'

He concluded: 'Please now look after my little angel in heaven as I know she will be excited to see you again!'

The tragic news came after it was revealed Ashley is one of 14 famous faces currently filming for Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins 2022 in the Middle East.

Former Ex On The Beach star Ashley is familiar with the physical demands of endurance based reality shows having previously taken part in MTV series The Challenge.

He has also completed a 1,000-mile fundraising bike ride in honour of their daughter, cycling from Lands End to John O'groats over a five day period in September.

Stars including Ashley, Maisie Smith, Jennifer Ellison and Pete Wicks will be put through gruelling tasks and interrogations to test them both physically and mentally over a period of days.

The Sun reported this month: 'The group are already in the Middle East being treated to the gruelling secret selection process special forces must endure.'

The Sun adds that the rest of the lineup includes: Olympic sprinter Dwain Chambers, 43, Olympic javelin medallist Fatima Whitbread, 60, Olympian Jade Jones, 28, Strictly star AJ Pritchard, 27, and his brother, former Love Islander Curtis, 25, 2019 Love Islander Amber Gill, 24, former TOWIE star Ferne McCann, 30, Calum Best, 40, who is the son of legendary Manchester United player George Best, Paralympian Jonathan Broom-Edwards, 33, and boxer Shannon Courtenay, 28.

In July, Ashley shared on social media that he wants to use the 'pain' he feels over his daughter Azaylia's death to 'achieve amazing things'.

The TV star took to Instagram to share an update where he also revealed that 'happiness is not a privilege he feels possible now in his life.'
