Ed Sheeran has revealed he finds being away from his daughter Lyra 'really difficult' and she has given him 'purpose' outside of his career.
The singer, 30, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday and admitted he was finding it hard being away from Lyra, 15 months, and his wife Cherry Seaborn, even just for a few days.
He said: 'I really love being a dad. I started off with my job being my hobby and then one day I got paid for it and it became my job.

'I just found I didn't have any purpose outside of that. When I gave myself fixed time off work I wasn't doing anything I enjoyed because I love music.
'I actually find this really difficult, being away. There was a conversation about maybe taking Cherry and Lyra over here and jet lag is just not fun for a baby.'
Ed told how Lyra has started to say 'dada' and 'mama' but he doesn't think it has much to do with him and Cherry.
He said: 'She's 15 months now so she's walking, talking, constantly with a bit of bread in her hand.

'Just dada and mama, that's pretty much it. The names come cause that's the first vowels they can say.
