Alan Carr got well and truly involved in hosting duties during this year's Royal Variety Show as he strips off during a sketch with one of the programme's acts.

The TV funnyman, 45, appears on stage wearing  prosthetic six-pack suit, as he pokeds fun at himself alongside a group of musclebound performers.

In scenes set to air on Sunday December 19, Alan tells fans: 'What can I say, I did a bit of Joe Wicks during lockdown', before adding: 'Love Island producers if you're watching, call me!'

Alan then points to an older member of the group and says: 'You are fit! There's a new silver fox in town... move over Phillip Schofield'.

Then getting involved in the act himself, Alan tells the audience he would like to show them how strong he is.

He jokes: 'Oh that's lovely, the loudest "no" is coming from my dad. I don't mean to shout dad, it's the steriods.

Alan said: 'I just love the show and it's absolutely mad because of who you are rubbing shoulders with and then of course The Royals will be there and that adds another level of nervousness.

'It's a very unique night but you just throw yourself into it and make sure you give the best performance you can.'

Alan, who said he had never met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge before, spoke to the Royal couple following the show and got the impression that they really enjoyed it.
