Eric Bana shows off his muscular form during a swim at Sydney's Balmoral Beach

He's etched out a Hollywood career as the hunky leading man of films like Hulk, Troy and Munich.

And Eric Bana showed he's still got it on Tuesday when the 53-year-old stripped down for a swim at Sydney's Balmoral Beach.

The father-of-two showed off his toned torso by wearing just a pair of boardshorts for his ocean dip. 

Later, Bana slipped into a Quiksilver rash shirt and took a canoe out for a paddle in the water.

Once he dried off, the Lucky You star donned a dry white T-shirt and put on a Deus Ex Machina cap and a pair of shades as he made his way home.  

Not joining Eric for his swim was wife Rebecca Gleeson, whom he married in 1997.

The couple share two children, son Klaus, 22, and daughter Sophia, 19. 

Eric has recently been keeping a low profile in Melbourne.

The Black Hawk Down star revealed in September that he had turned down offers for roles in Hollywood to ride out the pandemic in Victoria.

Speaking to the ABC, he said: 'This might sound weird, but I just kind of… I don't want to leave. Just in terms of what the city has gone through.

'In terms of having the opportunity to go and do other things, it just doesn't feel like the right time - It just doesn't feel right to escape.

'It sort of feels like we've gotten this far, you know, and you feel like you're part of the tribe and… I just want to be here until it's all over, and feel that sense of joy that everyone else will feel, at the same time.'

The actor also recently recorded the Audible podcast drama The Orchard and voiced Chaz the zookeeper in the children's film Back to the Outback.

He is set to star in the Australian movie Blueback next year, which is another Aussie film helmed by Robert Connolly, who also directed The Dry. 

Earlier this month, Bana admitted he didn't have to stretch his vocal cords too far to play Zookeeper Chaz Hunt in Back to the Outback.
