Simon Gregson has spokenly candidly about his decison to compete on the last series of I'm A Celebrity - admitting he did it because 'the money is good'.

While refusing to put a number on what he was paid, the Coronation Street actor, 47, said it was 'enough to get him out of trouble' and compared his pay packet to a 'solid gold diamond goblet'.

Simon, who was runner-up on the 2021 series of the popular ITV programme, spoke on Tuesday's episode of Good Morning Britain about what he did after the show which included 'gorging like Henry VII and taking a bath in his camp mate's room'.

When quizzed by host Susanna Reid why he took part, Simon said: 'Emma [his wife] and the kids have been on for years and years. And the money is good, lets not beat around the bush. 

Susanna then pushed to find out what he earned, and Simon said: 'Enough to get me out of trouble. It was a solid gold diamond goblet, so that gives you some idea.'

Simon went on to discuss what he has been up to since leaving Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Wales, where the show has been filmed throughout Covid due to the usual Australian location being inaccessible.

Admitting he has eaten a lot following his gruelling diet of rice and beans, Simon said: 'I was gorging like henry VII. Which is not usual for me.
